Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Gyirong Port - Gyirong Town, 23km, 2700m

The guide will wait for you at the china side of the border. Procedures for people and Today can’t stay in car or camping. Driving 2 hrs to Gyirong Town

Day 2

Gyirong Town - Gangga (316km, 4300m)

Visit opportunity: Pei Co cuo Lake. Some people may have altitude sickness today, it’s normal. Drink more water, pee more. Walk slowly, don’t jump!

Day 3

Gangga - Everest Base Camp - Dingri (110km, 5200m)

Visit opportunity: Rongbuk Monastery. Entrance fee of EBC: 160 CNY / PP. Shuttle Tour Bus120CNY / PP.

Day 4

Dingri - Shigatse (340km, 3836m)

Finally we arrive a Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. There are fancy hotel with and good restaurant.

Day 6

Shigaste - Gyangze County - Lhasa (400km, 3600m)

Lhasa - 3700m

Visit opportunity: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and strolling at Barkhor Street. Potala palace, Jokhang monastery, Barkhor Bazaar etc. Overnight stay in Lhasa. Entrance ticket: Potala Palace CNY 200/PP Jokhang Monastery CNY 85/PP

Day 9

Lhasa - Nagqu County ( 227km 3700m)

On the vast grassland, yaks, sheep and nomadic people’s camps can be seen everywhere. And the colorful long-standing nomadic culture created by the nomadic people can be appreciated here.

Day 10

Nagqu County - Tanggula town ( 412 km, 4500m )

Driving on the Qinghai-Tibet road, you can see snow-capped mountains and endless prairie along the way.

 

Day 11

Danggula town - Golmud ( 417 km )

Char Khan Salt Lake, Kunlun Mountains, Water Yadan landform, Populus euphratica forest

Tanggula Pass: “Tanggula” means “mountain on the plateau” in Tibetan. Due to the year-round wind and snow, it is known as the “Snow Warehouse”. Tanggula Mountain is the dividing line between Qinghai and Tibet, with an altitude of 5,231 meters. There are monuments and landmarks at the mountain pass.

Goldmud - Dunhuang, 561km, 6 hours driving, 2800m

Dunhuang

Staying in Dunhuang and visiting the Night Market in the evening is a great experience. Visit opportunity: Mingsha Mountain crescent, Mogao Grottoes

Dunhuang - Hami, 408km, 4hrs

Visit opportunity: Flaming Mountain, Bezeklik thousand buddha caves, Ancient city of gaochang

 

Day 15

Hami - Turpan, 411km, 4-5 hours

Day 16

Turpan - Urumqi, 200km, 2hrs

Upon joining, each participant will be sent a list of required and recommendedgear for this journey that they will be responsible for.

In Lhasa, Gyantse, Shigatse and Saga, you will be staying in comfortableandpleasant locally-rated 3 or 4 Star Tibetan-owned hotels. At Lake Manasarovar and alongthetrekaround Mt. Kailash, accommodations will be very simple guesthouses as these areas areveryremote and poor. Guesthouses have no heat, but plenty of blankets. Toilets are usuallyoutsideand are not always clean. Showers are often unavailable at guesthouses or are available at alocal
shower house that is not attached to the hotel. Hotel upgrades available in Lhasa upon request.

Breakfast is included in the price for each morning you are in lhasa and shigatse. Lunchand dinner are not included in the price.

Participants must be in good health and be able to spend each day walkingaroundtowns, villages and monasteries. Most of this tour will take place in mountainous terrain between3600 meters and 5200 meters (11,800 feet to 17,000 feet) above sea level. The 3 day trekaroundMt. Kailash is 52 kilometers long and will take 3 days to complete. This trek is beautiful, but isquite demanding as the high pass rises to 5630 meters (18,465 feet). You will spend 3 nightsinLhasa for altitude acclimatization before going above 3600 meters. Ascent will be slowandgradual along the way from Lhasa to Mt. Kailash.
